Information about GNU-Linux systems:

Epson Stylus C66 (USB printer). This is a shell script that allows one to use an Epson Stylus C66 under GNU/Linux as an old-fashioned line-printer. It won't do PostScript or PDF, but maybe someone will find it useful. This limited functionality works with the Debian 'Woody' distribution.

Apparently the C66's advanced features will work with GNU/Linux systems--I got it going under Knoppix 3.4, for example. However, to install it permanently, as of November, 2004, using the Woody packages, it appears one has to get involved with CUPS, gimp-print, recompiling ghostscript, and similar issues. That looked pretty complicated, and besides I wanted to use lprng with the C66. At least this script gives me minimal functionality.

Send me an email if you know how to use lprng-style spooling with a C66 for Postscript, PDF, etc. :-) Philip T. Ansteth
